Renewable Energy

Instability in global energy markets, coupled with growing energy price inflation and environmental concerns, has led to an increased interest in renewable energy technologies.

There are other driving factors too. These include the introduction of the Code for Sustainable Homes and Home Information Packs with their Energy Performance Certificate. Grants and other financial incentives, coupled with a major shift in public attitudes, have also played their part.

Though initial investment costs in renewable technologies can be substantial, they are becoming increasingly cost-efficient and also coming down in price. Many grants are available to help fund the purchase and installation of green technologies including solar thermal, solar photovoltaics, wind turbines, small ground source heat pumps and biomass boilers.

Property owners and businesses that apply for these grants must use an approved installer in order to qualify. To find out more about becoming an approved installer, or for more details on available grants for domestic properties, small business and enterprises, public and not-for-profit organisations, visit www.lowcarbonbuildings.co.uk.
